Glossary
Proportion of those people in the population over 15 years of age who listen "in general" to station XY. Expressed as %.
An indication of the number of minutes an individual listens to the radio or a particular radio station within a specific time frame. Minutes of daily listening are indicated per listener or per head of population. The listening time is then projected onto the total population, thus enabling a comparison between the minutes of daily listening of various stations. For example, 12 minutes of total listening time for Radio XY means that the population listened to Radio XY for an average of 12 minutes a day. Sixteen minutes daily listening per listener for Radio XY means that a Radio XY listener tuned in for an average of 16 minutes.
This is a percentage indication of the listening time of a particular radio station and its relationship to total radio listening time. For example, a 7% market share for Radio XY means that 7% of all radio listening minutes go to Radio XY.
This is a survey of individuals selected according to specific criteria (population, radio listeners, television viewers, 25-49 age group, etc.)
Ratio between the number of station minutes actually listened to and the possible number of station minutes that could be listened to theoretically. Given by Radiocontrol.
Proportion of those persons in the population over 15 years of age who listened to radio for at least 24 seconds (two points of measurement) in a period X. The reach is given for the total radio media and for the individual radio programmes. The daily reach, for example, indicates how many people have tuned in to a specific programme for at least 24 seconds (two points of measurement) during the course of a day.
If the sample corresponds to the universe in terms of the distribution of its characteristics (age, sex, geographical origin, etc.) in per cent, the sample allows one to draw conclusions regarding the larger group. Example: If 1,000 representatively selected young persons from French-speaking Switzerland are surveyed, the results are representative not only of the surveyed individuals but of all young persons in French-speaking Switzerland - although not of young persons in German-speaking Switzerland.
Proportion of those persons in the population over 15 years of age who have "already listened at some time" to station XY. Expressed as %.
