The popularity of music categories is surveyed without specific music titles being played: How much do you like listening to World Music? How much do you like listening to jazz? How much do you like listening to chamber music? etc.

However, does "World Music" make the test subject think of Harry Belafonte, or of Zap Mama? Because it is not clear whether the radio listeners polled interpret a music category in the same way as the music experts of the radio station, combined single-title and category research studies are advisable. This allows a differentiated point of view and shows which titles are popular and accepted within a category and which titles are not.
